Democratic pundit and former co-host of CNN's 'Crossfire,' James Carville, joined the Marine Corps after flunking out of college. He served 2 years honorably.  Carville made a name for himself as the political mastermind behind Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential campaign.

This famous Marine was also on the movie Old School.  Hilarious....
