Entrepreneurship Certification Series"Starting A Business" Boot Camp (SABBC) |
SABBC Candidates will also have the exclusive opportunity to participate in the Unconventional Team/Relationship Building Program offered by HCC and Trident Response Group. |
The 8 week "Starting A Business" Boot Camp includes a certificate course at SMU Cox as well as training from HCC. This program will provide veterans with the knowledge of what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur as well as the skills required to prepare and present a successful business plan. You will learn how to take your product, service or idea to market, and be introduced to a wide variety of resources to help get your business off the ground.
The veterans in this program will go through the classes at SMU – which are held once a week – where they will learn a wide range of different topics related to starting a business. During the course, veterans will be required to come up with a few business ideas, implementing everything that they will learn along the way to build a viable business plan around one of those ideas. In addition, each veteran will be assigned with their own mentor, with whom they will be matched through HCC's screening process. These mentors – who consist of business leaders and entrepreneurs of various fields who have donated their time to HCC – will provide their guidance and expertise to the veterans to help them further develop their business plans.
Upon completion of the 8 week course, the veterans will present their business plans to our network of venture capitalists, angels, local banks, traditional investors, and nontraditional investors.
Cash prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners of the Business Plan Competition.
SMU classes will go every Tuesday from 7-10pm, and veterans will maintain contact with HCC and their respective mentors throughout the program to continue their training and to work their business concepts.
SMU only offers this course 3 times a year. Apply now to take advantage of this rare opportunity.

Who Should Attend?
Starting and building your own business is one of the most common ways of creating financial wealth and personal freedom.
Historically many individuals felt that loyalty and dedication to a large company provided lifetime employment and financial security. In this world of downsizing, reengineering and rapid change, these individuals are being jolted by the realization that in some industries this belief is no longer valid. Employees who are tired of this uncertainty and anxiety are turning enmasse to entrepreneurship in an effort to gain control of their own destiny.
In contrast, other individuals have dreamed all along of starting and building their own business. These individuals frequently have a "wonderful idea" but recognize they lack the business "know how" to avoid the high failure rates prevalent among new businesses.
This course builds a strong foundation for understanding the critical skills and knowledge necessary to start or expand a business of your own. It is offered three times per year in a "one night per week" for eight weeks format.
