"After transitioning out of the Marine Corps, I went into the fitness industry. Being that fitness and health is a Marine's job 24/7, for many veterans it is a natural move. I found myself unhappy with the limited opportunity to advance. I realized that fitness, for me, was more of a hobby than a profession. After some research of various industries, I was drawn to the medical sales profession because I enjoyed the interaction with people and it allowed me to leverage my knowledge in health.
"Like for many veterans, I applied to many jobs, but had no luck in even getting an interview. After 7 months, I became very frustrated and wanted to quit! This is when I ran across a local nonprofit organization called Honor Courage Commitment, Inc. I met with the Founder Andy Nguyen and I was inspired by his story and saw that Andy has a passion for helping veterans achieve greatness outside of the military.
"I applied for the one of HCC's programs called Operation Job Placement. Andy personally mentored me and help develop my professional skills. I was quickly engulfed in meetings with key leaders in Dallas and was handed a lot of responsibility. Even though I had little professional business experience, Andy saw the characteristics in me that was instilled from the military and he was confident that I would get the job done. As a veteran with HCC, I was blessed with a lot of opportunities to include:
"OJP was a huge success and landed me a career in medical sales with Alliance Sleep Center.
"I know that without HCC's training or Andy Nguyen's support and guidance, breaking the mold for me would have been much more difficult and time intensive. I owe the world to HCC and Andy for giving me the confidence, skills, and the opportunity to be successful. HCC has introduced to me a whole new world of philanthropy, volunteerism, and social responsibility. I will to continue seek opportunities to volunteer my time and utilize my leadership skills to help other nonprofits and charities.
Semper Fidelis and Thank You,"
