Michael Ross, GySgt USMC
Michael served some time with HCC's founder, Andrew Nguyen, as a Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor. After a deployment to Afghanistan in 2011, he moved to Dallas, TX to work with HCC. While there, Michael took the lead on the HCC Fitness Program, and was the head boot camp instructor. He also attended SMU's “Starting A Business” course. Through this experience, Michael learned what it takes to start, grow, and manage a business.
Michael Ross grew up in Metro Detroit, with his mother and older brother, who is also a Marine. His father instilled in him the importance of hard work and commitment, and he has carried those values with him throughout his life. Michael's leadership skills and work ethic were evident even at the young age of 13, when he started his first job. Since then, he has held a management position at every job thereafter.
Feeling that there was a lack of opportunity for him in Detroit, Michael decided to join the Marine Corps in 2003, and saw his first duty station in Okinawa, Japan. He was selected to become a Marine Security Guard, and his service took him around the world to various places in East Asia, Africa, and Australia. After he completed his active duty service, Michael became a State Department contractor, seeing tours in Iraq and Macedonia. Upon his return, he decided to reenlist, and worked at the Pentagon as a Reserve Program Manager in Intel, Logistics, and Operations. During this time he deployed to Afghanistan for Marine Central Command in Kabul.
Today, Michael is back in the Marine Corps, again serving in the Pentagon. He lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and their 3 dogs. He also attends American Military University, having earned a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations, with honors, and is now pursuing a Master's Degree online.

“I was part of the program when things were still being developed so it is difficult to state which aspects were helpful. What I will take away from the program was that being an entrepreneur is a challenge and not just a job, but rather a lifestyle. HCC is in good hands from the bottom to the top as HCC members have extensive business backgrounds and education.”
