Ryan Leonard, GySgt USMC
Ryan Leonard came to HCC in search of a new career that could help him eventually take the step into entrepreneurship. After he finished the "Starting A Business" course in 2013, HCC assisted Ryan in landing a job at Futurestep, and he is now looking to purchase his own franchise.
Ryan graduated high school in 2001, and spent a year at Nichols State University in Louisiana, before he decided to join the Marine Corps. His primary MOS was 1142 (Engineer Equipment Electrical Systems Technician). Now 11 years in, Ryan has served 3 tours in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan, and was also part of the tsunami humanitarian efforts in Sri Lanka in 2005. During his time in service, Ryan has been able to go to school and obtain an Associate's Degree in General Studies, a Bachelor's in Business Management, and Certificate of Achievement in Six Sigma Green Belt.
Ryan was introduced to HCC through his friend and HCC Executive Director, JJ Wilson. Before this, he owned a business called BigEasyDVDs, a distributor of automated self-service DVD rental kiosk machines. Ryan was struggling to maintain this business and was losing money, so he decided that he needed some more guidance, and a new job. With the training and experience he received from HCC, Ryan was able to earn a position at Futurestep, and has now successfully launched Healthier DFW, LLC.
Ryan is married with 2 children, and currently lives in Allen, TX. He continues to support HCC through his numerous volunteer efforts.

"My experience with HCC has helped me tremendously to get where I am mainly through its mentorship program. Client as well as JJ have defiantly given me a lot of 'Ah-Ha' moments in my business and life planning process. I am very excited about the new business incubator program, and hope I can continue to volunteer to aid HCC's growth."
